Formation of Pakistan: Was it a Right Decision?

Are the Present dilemmas confronted with this country self speaking evidences of rightness of viewpoints of those who, at the very time of formation of this country, believed that it is in the great interest of the Muslims of South Asia not to have a separate homeland and to remain part of the Great India? If at the cost of sacrifice of lives and dignity of millions of people, this all had to be resulted what we are facing today in this land, was it a rational decision to get a separate piece of land? Or was it an error of judgment by Quaid-e-Azam, Allama Iqbal and their companions?

Pakistan’s political disasters coupled with drastic economic and law and order situation have rightly raised the question in minds as above. This article aims to ascertain if these seemed correct while we carry out the SWOT analysis of Today’s Pakistan and India.

One way of scratching our heads so as to obtain the right answers to the questions is to make a comparison of the present condition of Muslims of Pakistan and those of the Indian Muslims. Following are the few facts which will help clear the situation:

(1) Today, Muslim population of India makes up 13% of the total population of India but Indian Administrative Service has staff which includes only 3% Muslims, Indian Foreign Service has only 1.8% Muslims and in Indian Police Service, only 4% Muslims, Indian Railways has 4.8% Muslims and 98.7% of the Muslim Staff in Railways is working at very lower level jobs.

(2) In Pakistan 22.3% population earns 73 pence per day and in India 41.6% is facing the same situation.

(3)In Indian cities poverty of Muslims has gone worse than even achoots.

(4)If in Pakistan large number of children die due to scarcity of food before reaching age of 5 years, India’s condition is so worse that it has been ranked as number 2 in the world in such early age-deaths of the children.

(5)For 1.2 Billion population of India, 50% are deprived of the necessity of toilets.

(6) Some Cases have also been found where some Muslims in India find no option except to work by concealing their original identity of being Muslim and pretend as if they are Hindus due to the fact that some job requirements are strictly confined to ‘For Hindus only’.

(7)Today, in India, the so-called largest democracy of the world, eighteen (18) Separation Movements are taking their roots.

The historic sacrifices of the Muslims of South Asia to get a separate piece of land, where they can live their lives in accordance with the preaching of Islam, cannot be blamed as a failure just because of the fact that after Quaid-e-Azam, almost all the leaders have failed in making Pakistan the true realization of Iqbal’s dream. On the contrary, it would not be an exaggeration to say that all the politicians/leaders have rather contributed to move us away from Quaid’s Pakistan. But again this does not render the ideology behind formation of Pakistan invalid which was that if we live in the Great Hindustan, we would not get our rights as a minority and the test to confirm if the ideology was right is to compare a common Muslim of Today’s Pakistan with a common Muslim of Today’s India as we have made above. The need is to realize the true reasons why the Muslims of South Asia did not care, even, of  their lives so as to achieve the historical success in the form of the separate homeland and we should try our best to realize how we can individually contribute to move towards the realization of actual dreams of our Allama Iqbal and Quaid-e-Azam for our Pakistan.

Well, honestly the comparison with India is naive. From a more broader perspective, WE, since the very beginning are taught to hate life, hate people and made to believe that given even the most pathetic living standards, we somehow are the most superior race; thus making it justified not to change the status quo. A religious, political and social renaissance is what is needed for Pakistan and all the countries in the Muslim world !
From a narrower perspective, you have already have given the answer in the last paragraph of yours 🙂

      Dear Friend “SH”,
I have always been the lover of the saying: “When all think alike, no one thinks more”, so I really appreciate that you openly gave your differing comments on what I wrote above. Firstly, I would like to clarify that in the above lines comparison is not being made between two states but the conditions of a common muslim in the two states and which is not naive at all as it was the basis of that long sacrificing struggle for the independence.
Unfortunately, in the muslim world there has been a great lacking of research and development in religious education which resulted in confusions among some so-called ullama who could not present an appropriate picture of What Islam says, in the context of modern technological era surrounded by multidimensional threats and complications. Consequently misconceptions spread as you wrote ’We are taught to hate’ and like that.
My dear friend! The aim of this article is not to consider ourselves ‘the most superior race’, but I must say if we succeed in truly understanding and following what the Holy Quran says, we will definitely become a superior individuals leading to superior society. You may rightly call it ‘a renaissance’. Unfortunately all the muslim countries are deprived of this blessing.

I just want to mention here one of my relative’s (an uncle) perspective which I found very interesting,,, he said that its a conspiracy against Muslims to divide India into two and then three countries, coz if there is only one country, one day Muslims may get into majority in this resource full part of the world which could not be in the interests of the west.

        any comments???

The answer is very simple logic. People marry and produce children with a view to carry their legacy and also help to increase their wealth and living standard. If it is found out later that the baby has some disability or is handicapped altogether, do the parents start to think that their elders has plotted a conspiracy against them to produce handicapped breed. If they had waited for a day when science technology would be at their hights and there could be a guarantee of procuding only healthy children, then only they would have married.

Same is the case with those who are living in past and cry over spilt milk.
