Allama Qadri: An Angel in Disguise or Another Puppet of Enemies?

What has been the political history of Dr. Allama Tahir Ul Qadri, who has claimed to this unfortunate nation to bring miraculous electoral reforms so as to discover the right leadership for the nation? Is he really an angel in disguise for this nation or another puppet of some hidden powers to promote their vested interests? Is it really in interest of the nation to stop them from his intended long march?

I have tried to find out answers to these questions by going through different news papers which I would like to share with you people in following lines.

Almost all the analysts are agreed that Allama’s Past is full of controversies which ranged from his claimed dreams of seeing our Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (P.B.U.H.) (Naoo-zu-billah) to his advice to General Musharaf in October 1999 to take action against democratic government (After a week of his press conference General Musharaf took over Mian Nawaz Shareef’s government).  His contradictory statements about Blasphemy law has also been centre of discussions as he gave different statements in Western media from the one he gave to Pakistan Media.

Some analysts admit that his demands to implement the clauses of Pakistan’s Constitution relating to role of election commission are genuine and based on true needs of the system. And according to this group of analysts and journalists if we focus more on ‘what is being said’ instead of emphasizing on ’who is saying’, there is a hope that he would be able to gather a great number of people in favor of bringing the desired electoral reforms/practices. Following are the significant clauses which he demands implementation thereon.

  • A corrupt, defamed or defaulter should not be allowed to contest election. (Clauses: 62-63) (Though it is not practical to find an angel but known corrupted people should b e discouraged);
  • Elections should be based purely on justice, transparency and independence. (Article 118)
  • Moreover, Election Commission has no authority to take So-motto notice, and until other candidate/opponent raise the question, no action could be taken. This is not fair and is being exploited by collusion between the candidates/opponents.

However, a big majority of reputable analysts are also against Allama’s approach to raise his these  demands, in addition to their reservations about the doubtful historical controversies that have been associated with him in the past. They are of the view that the nation has already been suffering loss of numerous lives due to this terrorism, and this effort to gather millions of people in this fearful and risky environment would not be a wise and sincere step. Alternately, Allama Should have approached Supreme Court for the justice on which he has always shown his trust in his every second speech.

Nobody can deny the need for change in our corrupt and biased system that is based on vested interests of the few individuals who exploit weaknesses of the electoral mechanism and useful idiots (Common Public/voters) whose votes are merely based on either their bias/partiality or some inevitable compulsions. I am not sure if Allama Sahib should be trusted and followed by the common public for the long march, but some initiatives are inevitable to be taken to get rid of this corrupt system and insensitive leadership that has endangered not only the lives of millions of people by not providing an effective solutions to eradicate the massive terrorist activities but also the reputation of the nation in front of the rest of the world. Since no other leader could stand and try to gather people to help them resolve the crises they are facing, the vacuum seems to be filled by the Allama Qadri. If all the analysts and political leaders who are against Allama Qadri, are truly sincere with the nation, they should come up with some alternate more effectively to bring the desired change, as the tolerance of the common people has crossed its limits.

WHY SHOULD I OFFER PRAYER?

(This is a dialogue between a mother and her 15 year-old son)

Mother:  “Why don’t you offer prayer, my son?”

Son: (For a few seconds he kept silent, then he stammered) “Mama …I don’t …feel like …offering prayer?”

Mother: (with slightly high tone) “Sorry??”

Son: (Closing his eyes as if it is difficult for him to say what he is going to say) “I don’t like to offer prayer?”

Mother:  (She kept silent for few seconds, then asked softly) “Have you ever thought…why it is so?”

Son: (spoke whisperingly while having a look at his mother) “Yes”

Mother: (calmly asked) “So what do you think… why do you feel so?”

Son: “Mama, doesn’t it seem illogical to murmur the words which you don’t understand…even after reading the translation the meanings are not clear…plus while offering prayer different thoughts come to our minds…we are involved in just a physical exercise and actually we are mentally somewhere else…I think that’s why I cannot make up my mind to take out some time for performing the futile exercise?”

(Mother kept silent for some time)

Son: “Are you angry with me? Have you disliked what I said?”

Mother: (With a sweet smile on her face) “Not at all my son, rather I am happy to know that you are at least thinking about why you are not practicing the right thing…

(She stopped for awhile then spoke) “So you are saying that it seems illogical to murmur the words which you don’t understand…My son, when you were only 3 year-old and used to recite your counting and ABC lessons you were not able to understand what you were saying…but you did so…because you wanted to follow me, your teachers and all elders…You just wanted to make us happy…you believed us…and today you, yourself can realize that if you did not follow us then you would not be able to get the degree, position, earnings and respect you currently hold…you can imagine what would be the situation if you did not MURMUR the words which you did not understand then…

Secondly, you say that while offering prayer different thoughts come to our minds…we are involved in just a physical exercise and actually we are mentally somewhere else.

Imagine when you are traveling in a bus or car, don’t you experience the same feelings…unintentionally and unconsciously you confront multiple thoughts coming to your mind…but there also comes a time you just forget all the things when you finish the traveling and enjoy the final destination.

Similarly, today when you start offering prayer…you are not actually in a position to imagine the benefits which one can get afterwards…you are so immature to realize the ultimate blessings of the final destination until you make it your practice to offer prayer regularly. With the passage of time things are automatically made clear and understandable. All what you have to do is to make God happy, to believe Him…just like you believed your elders…made them happy when you were 3 year old”

Formation of Pakistan: Was it a Right Decision?

Are the Present dilemmas confronted with this country self speaking evidences of rightness of viewpoints of those who, at the very time of formation of this country, believed that it is in the great interest of the Muslims of South Asia not to have a separate homeland and to remain part of the Great India? If at the cost of sacrifice of lives and dignity of millions of people, this all had to be resulted what we are facing today in this land, was it a rational decision to get a separate piece of land? Or was it an error of judgment by Quaid-e-Azam, Allama Iqbal and their companions?

Pakistan’s political disasters coupled with drastic economic and law and order situation have rightly raised the question in minds as above. This article aims to ascertain if these seemed correct while we carry out the SWOT analysis of Today’s Pakistan and India.

One way of scratching our heads so as to obtain the right answers to the questions is to make a comparison of the present condition of Muslims of Pakistan and those of the Indian Muslims. Following are the few facts which will help clear the situation:

(1) Today, Muslim population of India makes up 13% of the total population of India but Indian Administrative Service has staff which includes only 3% Muslims, Indian Foreign Service has only 1.8% Muslims and in Indian Police Service, only 4% Muslims, Indian Railways has 4.8% Muslims and 98.7% of the Muslim Staff in Railways is working at very lower level jobs.

(2) In Pakistan 22.3% population earns 73 pence per day and in India 41.6% is facing the same situation.

(3)In Indian cities poverty of Muslims has gone worse than even achoots.

(4)If in Pakistan large number of children die due to scarcity of food before reaching age of 5 years, India’s condition is so worse that it has been ranked as number 2 in the world in such early age-deaths of the children.

(5)For 1.2 Billion population of India, 50% are deprived of the necessity of toilets.

(6) Some Cases have also been found where some Muslims in India find no option except to work by concealing their original identity of being Muslim and pretend as if they are Hindus due to the fact that some job requirements are strictly confined to ‘For Hindus only’.

(7)Today, in India, the so-called largest democracy of the world, eighteen (18) Separation Movements are taking their roots.

The historic sacrifices of the Muslims of South Asia to get a separate piece of land, where they can live their lives in accordance with the preaching of Islam, cannot be blamed as a failure just because of the fact that after Quaid-e-Azam, almost all the leaders have failed in making Pakistan the true realization of Iqbal’s dream. On the contrary, it would not be an exaggeration to say that all the politicians/leaders have rather contributed to move us away from Quaid’s Pakistan. But again this does not render the ideology behind formation of Pakistan invalid which was that if we live in the Great Hindustan, we would not get our rights as a minority and the test to confirm if the ideology was right is to compare a common Muslim of Today’s Pakistan with a common Muslim of Today’s India as we have made above. The need is to realize the true reasons why the Muslims of South Asia did not care, even, of  their lives so as to achieve the historical success in the form of the separate homeland and we should try our best to realize how we can individually contribute to move towards the realization of actual dreams of our Allama Iqbal and Quaid-e-Azam for our Pakistan.
